Talking To God
Talking to God never has to be something that is thought out or carefully planned. Talking to God can be just like you are talking to one of your friends or someone you love. However you decide to speak to God is up to you, but firstly it is important to know that God already knows your heart. He knows whether you are truly being sincere or if you are not, so it is best to come to Him as you are. Be open and honest with Him and speak to Him telling Him what is on your mind. Try not to overthink anything because God loves you despite what you may think. He is not looking for perfection He is seeking sincerity and honesty.
“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” – James 4:8.
As you get closer to God, He will also come closer to you. God is a gentleman so He does not force Himself into our lives, He gives each and everyone of us free will, a choice to decide whether or not we want a relationship with Him. Saying yes to God is the best thing you will ever do because it will open your mind and your life to a new way of living and experiencing life.
Setting aside time for God every day will help to set the tone for your day. Starting in prayer with God thanking Him for another day, for health and the other blessings He has bestowed unto you shows your gratitude to Him. These may seem like simple blessings, but God does not have to add another day to our lives nor does He have to bless us with what He has already given to us. When you reflect on the story of Job who lost everything, he still had his faith, when others did not understand why Job knew why. So, we must always be grateful to God for things whether they are big or small in our eyes.
During your day you can also spend time with God, sharing your thoughts and genuinely having a conversation with Him. It surprised me to know that God has a sense of humour! I was laughing so much the day I realised this. I cannot remember exactly what transpired but I asked God not to allow something to happen and He allowed it to happen, it may seem silly, but it was at that moment that I realised the things we think may reject for us are actually sometimes what God thinks is best for us! After all our Heavenly Father knows what we need before we even mention it to Him.
I hope this post encourages you to realise that your words to God do not have to be lengthy, they do not have to be elaborate, just speak to God as you would with someone you value and be comfortable in His presence. God will never judge you for trying, for making the effort and for desiring to spend time with Him. He longs to spend time with you too, so you coming to Him actually makes Him happy! How beautiful is it to know that our Heavenly Father loves us and wants to spend more time with us. Be blessed always.
With Love,
